Valve Adjustment

I just recently purchased a used head for my 1991 Geo Metro, 1.0 liter engine.

After installing the head, I now have a constant lifter noise. I thought that maybe since this was a used head that it sit a long time without oil, so I installed my lifters and cam, but the lifter noise is still there.

Is there any way to adjust these valves and lifters or is it supposed to be hydraulic and no adjustment.

If there is any other explanation, I would sure appreciate any help.

Thanks Bob

Boobaro;
Welcome to AF! I believe I remember reading a post answering this question, you can probably find your answer by using the search forum function, you'll find all kinds of great stuff that way. Anyway If memory serves me there is no adjustment the "lifters" are just a sort of hydraulic puck. Possibly you could take the ones from your old head and swap them in solving the issue.

Is not the weight of the oil you use critical in these older Geo 3 cyl engines?
5W-20 ?

I thought I'd read that the oil holes in the hydraulic lifters were quite small and
get plugged easily.

Maybe some detergent additive will help resolve this...
