I'm officially on my own in the world. Today I just moved into Albany University, my first away college, my first doom, my first quad w/ friends. And that's just in the first day! So you're probably wondering why I'm online right now? I'M BORED TO HELL, it's only the first day so a lot more people move in tomorrow and there's not much partying going on. Damn, the night is young!!!

So, as I like to be a contributing member of AF:

1) Going to College right now?
2) What was your college experience like?

Well, I am attending the community college right now for several reasons:
1) Didn't have a major picked out
2) Very close to home (5 min. drive)
3) Free (scholarship)
4) Save money

So, I'm going to get my associates after this spring and then move on to a 4 year college.

Same thing I did, I'm at UA for my bachelors.

How could college suck???

Costs money, takes time out of my day for stupidity, makes me do busy work, I had a crazy ex girlfriend there that would follow me everywhere and drive me insane....The list just goes on.

Just started going to FCCJ (Florida Community College of Jacksonville) myself. I already hate it. I hate every last thing about school... I've just never been good at it. Not that I'm stupid, but I just hate doing the work. Half the stuff we have to do is absolutely retarded, not to mention I'm lazy and hate homework. I really would never had even enrolled if it wasn't for my stupid ass getting in trouble, so it's basically my way out of getting the charges dropped against me (long story, and really not that interesting).

But I'm pretty much in the same boat as Poor, I have no major picked out, it's a 15 minute drive (would be about 5 if it wasn't for the freakin traffic here), and it's relatively cheap. So I can't really complain too much about it, but I just really hate school...

I'm commuting too Delta College right now for my 2nd year. I'll have an associates in Residential Construction (Construction Technology). One more year after this taking bs classes there and then I'm going to move off too Ferris State to get a Bachelors in Construction Management... 6 years worth of school in 5yrs... 2 degrees... sucks though because my classes right now are f'in boring.. Elementary stuff...

That's why you need to be in a dorm man. College life, not just life at college. You make friends you'll have for life! You've got a lot of freedom too, much more than at a community college. I know, I went to one for 3 years.

I kinda wish I went away for college because the community college here is basically 'High School 2', with a bunch of dumbasses who I wouldn't trust with a potato gun. But, I really had no incentive to move out because I don't hate my parents and I like saving money.

got my associate's in HVAC. Wasnt too bad. The homework sucked in some classes but other than that I met some really good people. And I hate big colleges. My gf goes to UWM (university wisconsin milwaukee) and i go there sometimes to take her to lunch (she doesnt live there) and I wouldnt be able to stand it with all those people. I liked the whole part where there were at the most 30 people to 1 teacher at my school whereas there are like 400 to one teacher per class at her school.

okokok.... LOVED COLLEGE. Not for the academics either. If you go into it with the right attitude it can be the best experience of your life. And yes, I did attend a college that was less than a mile from my house and lived at home and STILL lived the college life, AND I also lived on campus (different college though) and had an awesome time (not better, just different).

My advice to anyone who has not graduated yet... go take all the aptitude and personality tests you can at the advisors office, BEFORE you get to far into whatever major you've selected. You'll find out what industries oy'd be good at, and you probably haven't even thought of most of them. (wish I had found out about all that before my senior year... DAMMIT!)

If you're older (read: legal drinking age) find out which bars the profs hang out at and buy them beers and bullshit with them.... helps your GPA unbelievably, and you don't seem like a kiss ass.
