crx exxhaust

I have a 89 crx dx with a B16A and was wondering anyones thoughts on what type of exhaust should be put on it. I know there are some mass produced bolt on kits but if anyone knows a good setup that doesn't come in one box and = power and does'nt sound like a tin can rattling id like to hear it.

2" with a cat and resonator and a good quality muffler.

header; no cat; 2 1/4 pipe; resonator; otto-r muffler. works good for me.

Reactive mufflers sound real nice without being too obnoxious. They aren't a bolt on but I had mine installed at an exhaust shop with some real nice aluminized pipe..cost me 150 for the pipe and labour. 120 for the muffler..all in canadian dollars...nice thing about these mufflers is they come with a removable silencer so you can take the silencer out if you wanna play, or put it in if you wanna take the girl friend on a quiet road trip...and yes it is a so called fart can muffler for all the vintage guys out there...but I like fart cans :naughty: as far as the cat goes I've never seen a noticeable difference with high flow cats on any honda I've been around but the aftermarket cats are a hell of a lot cheaper than the stock so go nuts!

Well I think what should be stated also is your choice of header. I have a 4-1 header and its great for the mid to top end, the only downside is ground clearance, it swoops down like 1.5in from the actual car, so you have to be careful on really crappy roads and sudden ramps or w/e. 4-2-1 gives you similar amount of flow of a 4-1, just isnt AS good but it does clear the ground a lot better. I also have a B16, and I have a Tanabe hyper medallion 'catback' system, I totally recommend it! Sounds very unique and isnt loud ALL the time. And as others said, a high flow cat isnt gonna make a huge difference (unless you pushing rediculous turbo boost) in performance/response.

simple...2-1/4" from muffler shop and a turbo muffler :thumbsup:

the 4-1 header is for more of top end power. the 4-2-1 header is maore for torque. i have a 4-2-1. i like it. a really quiet exhaust is the RSR.

So do you have the complete catback for the crx with the side ways muffler or does the muffler come straight out the back? and that sounds NICE!

Do those headers make a difference with the 1.6 stock motor? I can get one of those at the right price, but figured since I don't have any add ons other than the comp being chipped that the header was a waste of time for me...

viper-blue: It might help you, I think you'd need a modified intake, and exhaust to ultimatly feel a difference. I'm running cold air intake, the 4-1 headers, and the tanabe catback, along with a quaife diff and clutchmasters stage 3 clutch, i had noticable power/torque increase through the VTEC band, and it burns smoothly up to 8,200 on 93 octane. If you can find them for a price your okay with, it couldnt hurt, and if you add more power in the future you'll need em then.
