I am thinking of upgrading to the 3.25 or 3.4in pulley for my riv. I plan on putting in autolite 104's, gutting the airbox, and putting in a 160 or 180 degree t stat.

But is it ok to run this with stock exhaust? I see some reccomend an upgrade, but I do not have plans for this in the near future.

I also see recommendations for a DHP reprogrammer. Is this needed?

I know more is needed for the 3.25, but what about the 3.4?

the 3.4 is the way to go, what year is your riv? i asume its a series 2? the 3.2 pulley is a track only mod IMO, you can have the 3.4 on and still drive it daily (i do) as long as you have the supporting mods to go with. DHP tuner IS required with a 3.2 along with headers,3"dp and cat delete is recomended. i have about 11psi boost with a 3.4 and i have stock exhaust. its OK but would be nice to have some more flo with 3"dp and cat del.

Thanks. Yeah, I have since read around about this and found the same. I am looking to go for a 3.4. Probably going to do Ubend delete and hi flow cat.

3.4 is a good pulley. I gutted the airbox and ran Evans coolant and never had a problem with detonation, even with the stock 195 thermostat. Any smaller than that and you will run into detonation problems on a mostly stock motor.

Just curious... How do these mods affect your fuel mileage? 3.4 pulley, plugs, cooler stat, and maybe a more free-flowing exhaust... What would I expect to see in MPG? I know it depends a lot on how you drive, but I do mostly freeway tooling back/forth to work and I am getting between 27-29 MPG now. With 120 mi. round trip to work each day this is important to me.

Although I suspect if I make the mods (especially with sweet sounding exhaust) I will have trouble keeping my foot out of the go pedal!! :)

you souldnt see any difference. you could maybe 1mpg better if you change out the plugs, open the intake/exhaust and if its all in top shape (clean intake and injectors). but the 3.4" and 180 will bring it back down 1mpg. so it shouldnt change at all.
