Yesterday while driving our '87 Delta 88, I got home and was not able to turn the ignition off. It was stuck. After some fiddling, my husband finally got the car to turn off.
Drove it this morning and no problems at all.
Coming home from work, same issue. This time we couldn't get it to turn off at ALL. It is completely stuck in the on position. We had to disconnect the battery just to get the car to turn off.
Anyone have a problem like this before?? How can it be resolved??
Thanks!

More than likely the ign. rack /rod mechanism that goes down the column to the ign switch is jammed, the column/switch must be taken apart to see what is what.

I had an aftermarket ign. lock cylander get jammed once. I'm not entirely sure how it happened, but a flat piece of metal on the switch somehow got bent and would catch on the column, not allowing it to spin. I ended up spraying it down with WD-40 and spinning it with a large pair of channel locks. The key wouldn't come out, but I did get the car on and off enough times to get me to autozone and home again to swap in a new cylander (requires a steering wheel puller and a lock plate compressor). Works fine now.
