How much does a front bumper for a 99 Trans Am cost?

My friend found a 99' Trans Am he wants to buy but he said the front bumper has had some collision damage. The guy only wants $4,000 for the car as it is. My question is how much would it cost to fix the bumper or buy a new one (I haven't seen the car yet so I don't know the extent of the damage). Do you think my friend should go for it?

I would have to see what was damaged if anything beside the bumper but a bumper can be found for 200 - 300 from a salvage yard so I say that sounds like a awesome deal if that is the only damage but I highly doubt thats the only damage.

More than likely, the hood is wrinkled too and the under padding of the bumper is messed up. There is also a chance the fender took some damage/cracked. The reason that any sort of collision damage does so much even at low speeds to these cars is because they are so low and raked. They tend to slide right under any car they hit and crinkle the front up pretty bad. Id take a look first because $4k for a '99 T/A seems a bit low even with front end damage. If it only needs a bumper though and everything else on the car is good, then Id say go for it. Like was said before, a bumper is cheap enough to replace if thats all it is.
