Engine light came on and the code stated P0440- Evaporative Emission Control System malfunction. It has something to do with the charcoal canister. How much and is it easy to change the canister on my own?
Thanks

Stop!, this does not mean the cannister is bad it is a system malfunction, try tightening your gas cap first then addt'l diagnosis is required. This is not a dyer type repair until the problem is pinpointed, that may require a full scan and possible use of a smoke machine to find the leak/malfunction.
Thanks

OK, this is weird. I'm having that problem too. Mechanic recommended buying a new gas cap and I did, and check engine light came back on....

That is beacuse that was not the problem, further diagnosis is necessary a mentioned above.

If the gas cap doesn't fix it, further troubleshooting is needed. Could be the purge solenoid or an associated tubing leak. There is a very basic EVAP system schematic sticker under the hood. The vacuum source for the 4.2L evap system is right up front/top on the throttle body.
