Corolla cranks but will not run

I have a 1990 Corolla (Geo Prizm actually, but Prizms have Corolla engine) with about 100K miles on it. Of late, the car has been giving me trouble starting. I have to crank it multiple times to start the car. That is: I crank, stop, wait 10 seconds, crank again and it runs. However, sometimes, I just cannot get it to run. I crank repeatedly and nothing happens. Whenver this happens, I have always been able to get it running with a push start. Also, it has never stopped while running. I have replaced the distributor cap, spark plugs and wires. The disgnostic code I get is 43 (NO "STA" SIGNAL TO ECU UNTIL ENGINE SPEED EXCEEDS 800RPM). I suspect that I am getting this code because I push started the car. I would like to keep this car for a while more - any suggestions on what might be the problem? I deperately need this car to keep me going!

fuel filter replacement...

and check fuel pump...and theres probably some relays whcih should be checked which control the fuel...

check spark...fuel ...and air and it should run....those are the main things to run a car...

depending on how well you know your mechanic there is a tool/equipment they can use to check each part of your distributor to see exactly what is bad. you may want to ask about that cause it kinda sounds like a distro problem to me, but then again all i have is a rough description and ive had alot of distro problems lately.
