Finished this a while ago, but just round to posting. Kit is the Revell MkII re-issue. The kit is okay, but clearly shows it's age. Comes up well with a bit of work. Decals are from Renaissance, and up to the usual high class standard. The only issue is applying the stripes across the wheel arches, though there is no way to avoid this without doing many individual decals. Enjoy!

Grant.

That looks fantastic. I have the same kit, and I hope mine turns out as nice. Do you have any pictures of the interior?

That's a good looking model. I really like the livery, how is the chassis detail?

Brilliant. You made a very nice model out of the Revell kit.

Agreed, looks quite supergood. Rear bumper looks glued on upside down tho.

... Good to know the tip on those decals and wheelarches, I have the same to do...

Thanks for the positive replies guys. To be honest, I had originally intended this kit for the 80's contest, so when that deadline passed some of my enthusiasm for detailing went with it. Having said that, I think it turned out okay.

SteveK2003 - Unfortunately I do not have any photos of the interior. It is quite spartan, though could easily be detailed. I honestly do not know about things such as the accuracy of the roll cage. I think there is another thread floating around AF the addresses some of those issues. I remember that the roll cage went together surprisingly well.

quadzero - Again, chassis details is fairly minimal. However the rear leaf-style suspension is nicely moulded, and can be made to look quite nice with some detail painting. The whole drivetrain 'floats' - i.e. is not directly glued to the chassis. Makes for interesting assembly. My advice is to test fit the rear-end, then be very patient!

Oli - I think you are right about the rear bumper. It is is only attached with pressure sensitive glue, and since it is slightly too short, it does not fit correctly. It fell off, and I obviously put it on upside down! I remember that you were doing a similar kit for the 80's contest as well. Good luck with it. I would advise that you test fit the front bumpers / spot light mounts. You will probably need to cut into the body to make them fit properly and securely - with the weight of the spotlights on they kept on falling off mine. I only realised after I had applied the decals to the rest of the body, so did not want to start cutting! Do you know if the car ever acutally rallied with the red wheel shown on the Renaissance instruction sheet? The only reference photos I found (and admittedly they were not from the Rally du Condroz) showed the white wheels so I went with them. I think it would look great with the red wheels though.

I will try to get some more photos of the interior and underside. Bit of sun here at the moment, so might be my chance.

Cheers, Grant.

Hi!

Thanks for the great heads-up with the front lights, I guess your version is right too, when raced during the day?

As for the references to the Rallye du condroz, it's a crapload of time ago, but I managed to find some... and it did have the red wheels.

After a baddish cleaning of my first paintjob, i kinda lost much interest in this car , so maybe, in the not too distant future?

Eitherway this is a big work and nicely done model.
