91 Camaro Rs Problem Starting

The problem is the car will not start and stay on. It will try to turn over and if you stay pumping the gas it will move but will not stay actually running. The car was impounded and the keys were lost. I tried to start the car with a key I had made but not completed with the dealer. It was just a plain key from the local hardware store. I am not sure if that had something to do with it or if I messed up something with the anti-theft system trying to do this. I did have the ignition replaced bought from the dealer but not put on at the dealer. I have not a clue what to do as I dont know alot about cars at all. I dont have alot of money and have know idea what this will cost so I am not sure if I can afford what it will cost to tow to dealer and then God knows whatever ealse is wrong with it. If anyone has any idea what might be wrong or if anyone lives in the LA area and could give me an estimate what it might cost to look at it I would really appriciate it. Thanks
