97 Accord SE

I had a code 9 so I got a new distributor. disconnected the battery, installed the new distributor. a couple days later code 9 came back. what now

code 9? and this is a 97? 97 is OBDII, your code should be something like PO###. If it indeed is a 97 and that wasn't a typo, take it to Autozone and have them scan it for codes (free). Because code 9 is Crank angle sensor or circuit on an obdI ecu.

I have no idea what your talking about.

I put a wire on the diagnostic port, turned the key to accessory. it blinked 9 times. in my book it says thats the CYP (cylinder position sensor) which is part of the distributor.

can you enlighten me on how I would be getting a PO### this way

OBDII cars like your '97 don't do that short the connector and flash out code deal...whatever you saw was meaningless, unless you are wrong about your car's year somehow?

After '96 the computers went to OBDII, and codes had to be read with a diagnostic scanner...no more binary flash trouble codes....

yes I know what year my car is

anyways I guess I'm going to write a pointless complaint to the people that wrote this book for my car. I was just doing what it said.

and on a sidenote I used to have a 98 civic which was obd2. and I used this same technique on it. it had a map sensor code I got by reading the check engine blinks. I replaced the map sensor and the check engine light never came back

so with that being said I'm still somewhat confused but I'll take your word for it.
