I am very happy with my my SS but if I wanted to beef it up a little more what would be the best mods to do? I am not changing out the exhaust though. I have heard several Monte Carlos with aftermarket exhausts and they all sound like ricer civics. So besides that what would be somethings to consider?

If you have done any mods you suggest, what kind of gain did you get if any?

How did it affect your gas mileage?

Keep in mind that my car is supercharged as well.

Thanks!!

:1: on the aftermarket exhaust thing, somehow the 3.8 or 3.4 dont sound too good with em.

Anyway, first thing i'd work on is your transmission, throw in a shiftkit and torque convertor and your car will shift quicker than any human.

Also you could get a CAI and if you feel like spending the money for it, buy a ram air hood for the Monte.. ive seen one on a blue one and it dont look all that bad, but the price is crazy.

I know you said no exhaust work, but there is a way to make them sound alot better. What i originally did is got flowmasters, and i was dissapointed at the way it sounded like you said. I then took off my resignator, and wow was it a world of a diffrence, It had a deep throughtyness that was very good for a v6. I personally didnt think it was loud enought for me, so i went with 3" straight pipes right. I got rid of the Cat, and everything. Its not street legal, but damn its loud. Also, you can get the KN intake kit, wich makes it sound nicer too. But that will through you back proably 300. And as the other guy said, The ram air hood looked diesal. Im saving for one right now, its about 700 plus prime/Paint.

Where are these hoods at? I actually looked for one when I got the car (I was just seeing what options I had in case I wanted to make changes) and could never find one.

I am thinking about the K&N intake but they are pricey. Trying to find one closer to the under $200 range.

I have heard several videos online of the MCs with exhaust mods, some with straight pipes and still they sound bad. I mean they sound very nice at idle and slow acceleration BUT once you gun it you hear the famous rice sound that I am wanting to avoid.

On the shift kit, does the 04 MC have a 4l60e? If so I have a shiftkit already. I bought one for my blazer and never used it. Do I need to upgrade the torque converter or is stock fine? If I get an upgraded one what amd I looking for? A 2500 stall or something or just heavier duty?

The SSs with the L67 have a 4T65-E transmission I believe.

That figures! Maybe the shop will let me trade it for the other kit.

2500 would be fine.

How bad does that mess with gas mileage? I have never used a shiftkit or stall converter.

Well I found this hood. Kinda pricey!! But it looks great. Might be worth the money!
