My car dies...

My car has been dying when I come to a stop. Not every time but often. If I decrease speed at very slow rates sometimes I can prevent it. Nissan first thought it was a fuel delivery problem and recommended that I change the fuel filter. That helped for about 30 miles and then it started happening again. Then a mechanic recommended changing the spark plugs, which also helped, but only for about 200 miles. Has anybody else ever experienced this? My engine light does not come one, therefore diagnostic machines can not interpret the problem, and I am left with leaving mechanics to make their best guess. HELP!!:banghead: (Oh yah...it's a manual transmission, and NO I am not just stalling the engine, I've driven stick for 6 years...)

Hey have you tried checking if it's an electrical problem? It might be a bad alternator. If not then I woild take a wild guess and say that it might be your injectors. It's a wild guess but yeah that wouldn't show up on the scanner.
Keep trying.

I have a idea what it could be, Pull Distributor cap of. Remove Distributor Rotor and there is a black cover that is round that goes around the distributor housing.. Pop that off and see if you see Oil .. If so , you need a distributor. I would start there first, Thats a common failure for situation like that.

Yeah well my 00 Expedition has been doing that same thing and the mechanic said the EGR was not getting sufficient air. Might be a leak in your hoses, I don't know what else to say. But it is frustrating that a computer can not pinpoint the exact problem. That seems to be the most expenxive type of repairs.

Had a similar problem with my old Camry. It turns out that a clamp on one of the hoses was loose which was letting moisture into the gas/air mix. It would only happen after driving for 10 or 15 minutes or so because the hose needed time to warm up and expand, and usually only in the morning or when raining (i.e. when the air was most humid).

Is it closer to the EGR or is it closer to the engine? I still have not fixed this problem.

You Ford Expedtion and your Altima are 2 Diff types of Vech. Your Ford I would not be surprized if the crank sensor was going. On my Ford F350 it was intermitently Stalling. Replaced it , now it doesn't stall. Check your distbutor or check for and intake manifold leak. Start with checking your distributor like i suggested and let me know
