Is 2 1/4 inch piping too big

my cars at the muffler shop now and they want to know what size piping i want on my car bc they are doing my whole exhaust over is 2 and 1/4 in to big?

i would not go over 2.5". U should b fine with 2.25", i just had mine done cat back with 2.5", it flows much better but u lose a little bottom end. i would also recommend putting a new resonator on.

haha...Dude I am pretty much asking the same question.
From the research I have done, 2.25" is about the largest you would want to go in a 4th gen, and maybe smaller if you have a stock motor. A larger pipe isn't necessarily better as it will reduce backpressure. This is desireable if your motor kicks out more HP (like a b16!!), but I think can decrease performance on a d15 for example.

I'm going with 2.5" with a 2.5 cat too.. :)

But with a stock SOHC I wouldn't go over 2.25.
