Exhaust rusting off :( - need advice on replacement

Yo peeps...how's everyone been? I have been BZ as hell lately but checking in on the posts occasionally. Hope this post finds everyone well! :)
OK - so here is my current problem...the ZC update is below if anyone cares :p - I am sure by now you guys (and girls ;)) are getting tired of this motor not being in my car. I promise it will be there, eventually
My exhaust system is shot. The exhaust pipe parted at the joint where you would bolt on an axle-back (just inside the right rear wheel.) So I might as well replace the whole thing I figure. Right now I still have the muffler just hanging there..I figure if I get pulled over for my car being loud as hell, I can at least say - "yes officer, this just happened and I haven't even had a chance to fix it yet.." whereas if I took it off it is a little obvious it has been broken awhile - lol!
If I was rich I'd get a Thermal R&D cat-back...but alas, that may be a little out of my price range currently...so I am researching other options also.
1. Go to a muffler shop and ask for 2.25" piping and OEM style muffler from the cat back?? (sleeper look except for the larger pipe...will this provide suffiient plumbing or is a larger OEM style muffler too restrictive??
2. Buy a stainless muffler and take it to a shop and ask them to install it with 2.25" piping??
2a) What type? This is where I currently need help..OBX Baby Bomb? regular Bomb? Some other brand?? I don't really know shit about mufflers....I don't want it too loud, but I don't want to be losing power because of it. I also don't want the big-assed tip ricey things. A 4" tip does not make the car faster..IMO it only attracts ricers. I have seen a few mufflers on 4th gens at this board I really like. Is there one small enough to still come out the stock location (i.e. OBX Baby Bomb?) and not look stupid?
3. Stay OEM and just ask the local Midas for a the crappy drink straw piping :( - Probably won't do this...this is as expensive as option 2 and I need that ZC to breathe - (if I ever get it in there!!)

Any help appreciated peeps - Thanks!
Anyone with experience in cost or hassle will help also. If it is $400 for a shop to install an OBX or similar muffler, I might as well save $450 and get the Thermal and put the thing on myself...so any help or personal experience welcome!

Quick ZC update - I think I FINALLY have all the right parts for the ZC and I have found out some interesting information....
The valve cover on the ZC is more like a 90-93 USDM Integra D-series than an 89 Integra. It took forever to find the right studs to bolt the valve cover onto the head, but I think i got it goin' on now. I had to get the Acura Carland peeps to fax me '89 Integra diagrams as the car is too old to have the diagrams on the website - it looks nothing like a ZC valve cover, and bolts on completely differently.
So - more update...Pistons are back in, head re-assembly is nearly complete, except for the cams. So the thing is just about ready. As soon as summer slows down and I have a free weekend, I think I'll be ready to complete the motor assembly and then one more weekend to slap that baby in :D
if you read this far thanks, and don't forget my muffler issues...that thing sure is loud coming out of the pipe - LOL!

this is what i did & i love it. 12" resonator with custom 2.5" piping back 2 a Powertech B3 muffler. it comes with an tunable silencer. i like how it sounds & looks, aggressive, not 2 loud & deep, not like bees in a coffee can.

Hey Dude...where did you get a Thermal for $400? I think the cheapest I found was $479. I have a 4-door, so that could be the difference.
BTW - I am an hour south of Annapolis... thanks for the help!

I got it through Import Sports. They are in Glen Burnie. I went to high school with the guys who work there so I got the hook up. I also got my AEM CAI for under 200... and my DC header for 299... but that was mainly a package price cuz I got it all at once when they did my swap. They might cut you a deal though. I believe he said they regularly sell their thermal for like 425 or 450. Their number is 410-553-6910. Aaron can hook you up.
