Honda Odyssey 20 - 28 mpg, WHAT A HUGE LIE MORE LIKE 11-15 MPG and I am an extremely mellow driver.
I bought a 2005 Honda Odyssey EXL. When I got this van I immediately noticed that I was getting about 13 mpg. I was extremely unhappy with this and took it back to the dealer. After a thorough check, they found nothing wrong and sent me home. They stated that there was a break in period and it would get better after I put a few more miles on the van. This never happened and I currently get 11 - 15 mpg. The case manager for the Northwest region for Honda Corp. states that there is a percentage of Odysseys that are having the same problem as mine and unless they can find something wrong, I am out of luck. She stated that Honda believes that the owners driving habits are contributing to the poor fuel mileage. I told her that seemed impossible to me because every vehicle I have ever owned has gotten better than stated fuel mileage and my driving habits have not changed.
Is anyone else having this problem?

i have a 2006 exl and there is a ECO light that comes on to conserve gas. i am not sure if 2005 models have that feature. see if the engine shut off feature is working properly. i do get about 20 mpg with A/C on with combo highway and city driving though.

Somthing has to be wrong. Either you take lots and lots of small trips or something in the emmision system is faulty. You should have an ECU scan done to see if you have any codes present.

If something is really wrong the van would throw a check engine light. I would bet if you took it to the dealership and let the shop foreman drive it for a week he would be able to extract the projected mileage. You may be a "mellow driver", but if you do take lots of trips as previously stated or cruise around all day running the a/c your mileage will suffer.

I'm sorry but there has to be something wrong with your van. I have an 04 Yukon Denali with the 6.0 liter engine and 325 hp and I usually get about 11 miles to the gallon in town and up to 15 on the freeway. That's all with 22" wheels. If you bought the van new I would make the dealer take it back because of false advertising. Those van's are supposed to get much better mileage than that. I don't know what the sticker says but it must be close to that mileage.
