Pride

So I was sitting on the bed getting ready to fall asleep and reflected on my day. Sometimes I just really hate my job because of all the egos that are crammed into this office. Then I thought... this person who I consider the biggest jerk in the world, what would he be if he didn't have such pride in his MD degree and in being a doctor? Take that away and would he be the same prick that he is now? What if he didn't have that degree and worked with doctors... would he be humbled or would he still be the same jerk?

Then I extended that to maybe someone who was vain. Having too much pride in one's appearance. Take that away and does that person change? If you take away a person's source of pride, would that person change into a completely different person?

Just pondering... any thoughts?

I know how you feel. I think people with too much pride can destroy there self image. Can lead to cockiness, superiority over another, ignorance... Im not just talkin about some paper (degree). Im talking about cultural.

I think its the process of getting to the point where you can be cocky that makes people cocky. Because thay are thinking, "hey I worked so hard for this and got this far, I'm awsome!"
