Good day all.

I have a little problem with my PC, the problem exists when after i have started it up and gone through the usaul start up screens it reaches the sign in page, after passing through that it usally displays my desktop but for some reason it comes up blank, meaning i cannot get into my desktop nor do anything. (At the moment im using an laptop) I have also tried safe mode of which again nothing comes up and it just displays an blank screen with safe mode written round the outer corners. If anyone can help i would be extremly thankfull.

Many thanks

Read through this link. Have you checked any XP newgroups?

Running on 'ME'.

the Miserable Edition. I had that on one of my desk tops and ended up formatting the drive and installing 98se.

Can you get to task manager by pressing ctrl+alt+del? Is there anything showing unusually high processor usage? Is your hard drive still showing activity when nothing's happening on screen?

I highly recommend backing up your data and upgrading to Windows 2000. It's much more stable and hassle free than Win 9X.
