PS2 through PC

Since my monitor is big enough, 19 wide, I'm going to use it as my tv as well. It comes with a tv tuner card so the first thing I did was plug in my playstation2. I can't figure out how to see it or hear it. The computer comes with media center 2005 but it's not as easy as going to an aux channel on a normal tv. Others told me to try WinDVR and I can't get that working either. I'm using it through component video(yellow, red, white).

Do you mean composite cables? Component cables are video only and come in red, green, and blue. Also, your TV tuner card didn't come with any software?

I tried WinDVR and it freezes on me, plus I use the three cables, 1 video and 2 audio and it doesn't use those. MediaCenter is useless for the video card except TV. I was told GigaPocket works but I can only find it on Vaios. Is there another program to try? How can I get my PS2 (through component video) to transfer to my monitor, from my video card?

O_O you have 10x times as many posts as I do
err--I just want to know what program to use and If I can't do that, could I access the video card another way and transfer my display from my Nvidia card to that? Only problem is I forgot how to change it back after I do that...
If none of this works, I'm going to buy an svideo cable for my ps2, that should work.

That devices doesn't allow you to pass thru the PC or video card, it bypasses the PC entirely and uses just the monitor and speakers, which would be fine. you need a vidieo card that has the input jacks that match you cables on the ps2 if you want to run it thru the PC

If you have a TV tuner card with a single RCA input for the video, or an S-Video input with an RCA adaptor then you can easily do it.
Just plug the PS2 in, and the software for TV viewing that came with the card should will let you access it much the same way as you would on your TV.

I tried that with a few programs and I haven't gotten it to work. I think my capture card sucks. It's Happaugue WinTVR something something, it has 3 rca jacks, an s-video and a cable jack.

I'd say go ahead and buy the adaptor from compusa and skip messing with the software anymore. seems like the cleanest solution. looks like it works like a KVM switch. hardware solutions are usualy the best anyway.

I agree with ericn1300, it seems like the adaptor is teh way to go. You also don't have to screw around with software updates and sh** like that.

It works great aside from some grainy graphics, but the sound is full of static, so I sent it back and bought a new one and it did the same thing, so I was thinking of buying bose companion 2 speakers, which work both as tv speakers and computer. It's 100 though, so i'm waiting it out. Now I need a new steering wheel.

that's the unfortunate part about ordering online... if you could make it out to a store to try some out, that would be helpful. or read some online reviews of the hardware in question.

Have you tried to hook up cable to your comp yet? I have the media center and I have not had any problems with mine. I however am not trying to hook up a gaming unit. Mine came with a bunch of RCA's in the back and I also have the sound blaster audigy sound card. When I get home I will play with the media center part of my comp and see if i can get it to work. Then send you a pm.
Good luck...

lol what happened to that PM?? Media Center isn't designed tor recoqnize the signals that come out of the ps2. If it could, you're supposed to flip through like 300 channels to find the right frequency. So that didn't work for me.
Video game Jockey is very good for it's price (but the audio sucks, might get bose speakers), but I wonder how a high graphic game like Xenosaga or Final Fantasy is gonna look. On gt4 the graphics are grainy, but that's because you usually sit far away from a TV so on an LCD, well you're screwed.
