problems w/2000 malibu

while driving car starts stalling and loses all power, when let off gas it jerks real hard, now it's started shutting completely off when this happens. seems like too much gas or not enough(not a mechanic). if leftideling its ok, but turn it off and crank back up it will go dead. sometimes for several minutes at a time before it'll start back. engine code was EGR valve and second was 02 sensor. haven't replaced either yet dont want to play trial and error game with money. if anyone has had similar problems or has any advice please let me know.

Back O2 sensor. I had this problem, and when I had my friend replace it for me, car ran fine.
