Beretta engine swap

Has anyone heard of a 5.7L V8 being put in a Beretta? I want to do it just because someone I work with said it couldn't be done. I measured an old 350ci engine that I have just lying around... and it would fit with about an inch on each side including the headers (and I think the hood will shut too). The only real issue that I see is the brake booster/master cylinder.

And I probably should have added I will be making the car rear wheel drive, therefore the engine will be mounted longitudinally

It could work if you have the space.

You will also need to build a bigger trans tunnel. The original was only sized for the exhaust to pass thru. This would also requre some firewall mods to clear the bellhousing. I know prostreeters have done it before but they usually gut the chassis and do tubular.

I remember seeing a GM prototype with a transverse V8 based off of the LS1. There was even an AWD variation.

I also remember seeing in a different forum someone putting in a Buick 3.8 turbo from a Grand National.

Ever think of maybe dropping in a Northstar V8 from a caddy or the current Impala/Bonneville platform?

i explored it as well the most logically solution would be to use the frame off an s-10.. the beretta frame has too many obsticles, the fuel tank won't allow a passage way for a drive shaft, maybe you can relocate it or use a tank off a camaro with some custom straps, also, the chassis won't support a rwd's torque the rear end is going to kick up, the rear of the car isin't at all solid, if you were to make it rwd with out reinforcing the frame you'll be buckle up in the middle of the car. The master cylinder does need to be replaced, a man put a v8 in his grand am and had to relocate the MC a few inches to allow room for the bigger engine, same follows for the beretta. Your more than likely going to have to relocate the battery, the trunk is a common place.

oh and btw your 350 isin't at all a ludacris idea... i'm going the same route myself, i'll drop a supercharged 350 in the beretta as soon as i build one up... won't be for a long time tho
