Replacing Evaporating Unit for A/C

I have low cooling and mist coming thru a front vent. Perhaps it is a leaking evaporating unit. I have not tried a stop leak product yet nor have checked the pressure. I plan on doing this first if it may help. If I need to replace this I believe I need to remove parts of the dash. Could this be a DYI job?
