OK this is long overdue. This is to all of you nay sayers that blasted me for sugesting a direct injection turbocharged gas could run a fuel effecent CR while using med-high levels of boost. I have been sticking to my guns for years and what do you know mazda built it. I am not going to mention any names but you know who you are, try being more open minded in the future and listen to an idea before you shoot it down.

The 2.3L I4 found in the mazdaspeed 6 and in the mazdaspeed 3 Turbocharged direct injection engine. Truly awsome 274hp 280 ft/lbs torque at 15psi of boost and a 9.5:1 CR! That is an incredable Compression Ratio for a turbocharged engine running over 1 bar of boost. This is the technology in its youth, and it is already impressive, give it a few years and lets see what happens :) I have been saying for years that someone needed to make an engine like this (Turbocharged and direct injection) and a few narrow minded people here got all upset about it like I was breaking some major taboo.

I'm sure you could replicate those kind of numbers with any engine if you had a $212 million R&D budget too. For most bench racers the possibilty isn't real, but when you can tool up for 30 different head designs and buy 300 different turbos to test, then put them in a test dyno and run them for the equivalent of 200k miles its feasible. I think that's our difference here. In general there is no provision for engineering like this in our own garage with a laptop, but when you have millions of dollars, sophistocated test equipment, several years, and 20 of the smartest engineering minds making 7-figure salaries you find a way to get it done :)
I think both sides here are right, but Kachok... please don't start an thread with an argumentative retort to an old thread. That's just like picking a fight and its not a cool thing. If this thread doesn't turn technical here really fast its gettin' closed.

I wasnt saying its not possable, I just just kinda thinking what curtis said, kinda childish to start a thread to say "I told you so" when your not the one who even did it...
