YEP! This is the bees knees! Agaisnt my will, I sold my 88 TII last year due to circumstanced related to brekaing up with the ex, getting kicked out of the apartment yadda yadda.
But karma has worked its magic yet again! What happened is the guy I sold it to never paid me all the money (loser couldnt come up with a grand in a YEAR!) and he sold it to someone who sold it so someone else. All while I held the title. I finally got to my last straw and ran into the guy that has it now at rx7club. Well, turns out, he is pretty well off, and he's willing to just give me the car back! He says he doesnt really care aobut the money he spent on it, and that it's just collecting dust. If i'd have found him 3 weeks later, the car would have been parted out by then! Talk aobut dodging a bullet, eh? So yeah, im gonna go tow the car back 'home' this weekend and im stoked to hell about it
Too bad she's such a piece of junk :( The only reason im not driving it back is because teh tranny is in bad shape, and the rearend is toast. On top of that, she's got bodyrot issues and the standard rx-7 electrial problems. Also, i'm going back to school this year and won't have a lot of money. But I will never sell my baby again.
Here's my plans: Get the car back here, and THEEEN
1. remove engine, transmission, front suspension, rear suspension and subframe
2. 'sneak' the parts down to the basement so my parents won't notice. Haven't completely figured this one out yet. (yes i still live with my parents. Lay off. That will change in two years).
3. Since i'll have all the time in the world, rebuild the transmission myself
4. Possibly motor too. And port the wastegate on the turbo.
5. Save up for a RB full turboback exhaust since the stocker is completely rotted away
6. Possibly track down another shell. I'm not sure if i want to put the time, effort and money into cutting and welding the rot on the body of the car if i can pickup a straight rustfree shell for 500 bucks. The fact is the rot is kinda bad, AND the car has that HIDEOUS blue interior. I'd probably keep the good pieces like the aluminum hood, the doors, the rear hatch, headlight assemblies, bumpers and such.
7. replace all rubber bushings with poly bushings and beadblast and paint all suspension pieces. This includes the transmission and rearend.
Yeah so...uh.. whaddya guys think? this is going to be one of those 'project' cars until i earn my engineering degree and really get to waste some money on this beast.
