:smoker2: CHECK THIS OUT G'S
I presently own a 99 G20. Had it for about 2 months now. Have been
thinking about trading it in for a celica gts. I mean I don't have leather,
I don't have no muthafunking sunfroof or fogs....Automatic at that.

Is my ride worth putting major money into. Its only got 145hp stock. And you can't say its not heavy. With that being that could it be compared performance-wise to a HONDA CIVIC. I mean hell, thatz close to 20hpover the civic and it has got to weigh at least 400 more lbs than it. I need to see what ya think about the g20. I have heard the engine is actually pretty damn good but numbers don't lie. BOOGIE, KENCHAN, LUKE, AHHH G FORCES, ANYONE ELSE; what do yall boys
think about it and what it can do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:bonghitte

any and every opinion will be appreciated!

I know this won't be popular opinion but get the Celica if you really want it. Take it for a drive and if it really tickels your pickle get it. If the celica came out 6 months earlier g20.net wouldn't exist as you see it now. :p:p

hm, i wouldnt recommend it highly though unless you lower it cause two of my friends tipped theirs over from taking a turn to fast. the rollover rate is high i guess.

Nahh the new N.A. 'rex' is a sad attempt! Sorry but unless it has at least 276hp it's not a 'rex'. :p:p Maybe the Sti version will deliver the goods.

duuuude, i just put in a set of Cusco Zero 2 coilovers in the GDA impreza...even with 227hp, it kicks sooo much ass. 0-60 in 6.1 is plenty fast...besides, just get a down pipe to get rid of the "2" cats that the car has and, bam, 250hp, not bad at all!!!! yuuummmy...

is any ride worth putting major money into? a car is not an investment. it is an expense. if you put major money into a hyundai you could end up with a bitching fast car. there are many naturally aspirated g20s out there with not a whole lot of work that still do pretty good. exhaust, header, cai, cams, flywheel, ecu will get you into the 180 HP range. and this should be under 2,500. i think stillen's project g20 went 165 hp at the wheels.

yes, there's not a whole lot of stuff available for nissan engines but the stuff out there is quality. the same cannot be said for a lot of the honda aftermarket world. there are ways to mod your car or turbo it, but you don't have 521, 362 choices like honda people do. however you really can't go wrong with what's available for the nissan world.

if you decide to sell your g keep this in mind.

resale value. resale for any luxury car sucks. infiniti gets hit hardest of the japanese luxuary brands. i've seen 99 g20s listed at 12 to 15gs. these are by dealers. a dealer will offer you less than 10gs for your 99 g. if you sell on the open market you might have to wait a long time. i've seen gs in autotrader and the recycler that have been advertised for over half a year.

the reason why i bought a g and will by another and for you to hang onto it.

handling
reliability
looks
uniqueness
pseudo luxury

a stock g20 will outhandle any japanese sedan out there with the exception of the wrx. my friend preffered my auto g over his manual acura gsr.

the g20 has been rated the most reliable car by consumer REPORT. the g20 and the i30 plant and japan has received accolades from jd power.
the wrx is tied to subaru. those cars can be hit or miss.

the g20 is a clean looking car. even when you drop it, it looks good and not ricey. while it will never be mistaken for a bmw, it will never remind anyone of a bland honda or toyota sedan. the wrx is a truly fugly car. great stats, though i'd relegate it to bootie call status. some of you might be tempted to drop the necessary money to make it yours, but in the end would you really want to wake up every morning to a face like the wrx?

everyone has a freaking honda in the non jdm import world. some people have toyotas. few people mod nissans and infinitis. i've only gone to a few import shows and i've been disgusted with the overkill of honda and the space age/star wars look. but if you go over to japan, hardly anyone mods a honda. it's silvia, evo, and skyline gtr heaven over there.

a g has nice cross over appeal that hondas and toyotas don't have. you can be at a car show and a high falutin event such as a broadway musical in the same car and not feel out of place.

last but not least. if you're in a car accident you want to be in a g. i'm sure hondas hold up structurally and protect the driver and passengers but the outside of the car buckles like an aluminum soda can. those bumpers can barely survive a 5mph impact let alone anything above 15 mph. i can't speak for toyotas.

sell the auto and get a manual if you want to maximize performance.

Resale value does suck for the G. I got a 99' G20 with all the luxury crap and goodies and only paid 16.000 with all the tax and lisence shit out the door.....did I mention from the dealership.

Plus you also get to say I have an Infiniti....and you can seperate yourself from the honda and toyota crowd..... Where I live I only see 5 G's but all of them are bone stock.......so if you really want to you can modify your G to be one of a kind in your area.....but I say do whatever gets your girbles going.....

P.S. Don't get a manual car....let's just say that you'll have a free hand whenever you have your date in the car...if you know what I mean.....:licker:

Keep the G20.

Why ??.....Stand out from the crowd and have something a bit different from everyone else.
I bet a tricked out G20 will get more looks from people as they dont see that many and will want to check it out.

Its like when i put my Stillen kit on mine.......no one else has got one in town and it now stands out from the rest. In fact i've never seen one anywhere else i've been.

i like test driving cars just for fun and I test drove the GT-S. the 6sp is hard to shift. it was like I had to crank it in gear to get the thing going. handling wise, P11's are much much more predictable. imo, if you're gonna get a GT-S, Id get the Acura RSX. it's a waaaaaaay better package and hell of a lot more fun to drive. get the TypeS. the 6speed on that car is like nite and day from the celica. it's a totally fun car that's for sure...and there's going to be hellllll of a lot more aftermarket parts for the RSX compared to a GT-S. WRX is another catagory, can't compare it with the Celica's.

I'm contemplating right now to get the RSX typeS and get some TEIN RA's (coming out within a year) on there with some racinghart CP035 wheels, or to get a IS300 and keep it stock. which ever way its gonna be, I'm keeping the P11. selling the civic, probably down the road. this will happen within the next 2 years. not gonna sell the prelude either. mine's dressedup and it's a beauty. nothing but compliments even from the muscle car guys like Saleen's and Vett's. Id recommend the TypeSH over the Celica anyday, but they're discontinued. too expensive of a package especially for a 4banger for most people. its more of a honda guy thing, I think rather and for a typical driver. need to modify it to make it really look good too.

so I say keep the P11 and get some TEIN NA's on there or get the RSX TypeS. or, go the entirely new route and try the WRX. :D if you are comparing cars just from acceleration, you should get a different car. P11's especially AT's dont shine in that area. mine's just a commuter so I like the AT. it's sloppy when you wanna go fast, but for a luxurious ride, its very smooth.

One more reason to keep the G, you can have a hot lookin' ride that doesn't attract the wrong kind of attention from the cops. Most cosmetically modded Gs I've seen on this forum have a clean, cool, quality and classy look about them that doesn't scream "lawbreaker here" at the police.

Today I drove my friend's CL type-S... wow!! 260hp!!

I was very impressed. First gear isnt super thrilling, but riding out second into third is breath taking, the car really starts moving... its seems so much faster than an e36 M3 (240hp)

All I have to say is.. I cant wait to have 250hp in my G!!! :D

Its the one thing I wished the car had stock.... power!
