Returning to modeling, need help

I've not built a model car now for about 13 years however i was given a Tamiya Porsche 911 GT3 as a gift and have decided to dust off my tools. I remember one problem i always used to have was fixing the windows in place without getting glue all over them, does anybody have any tips on the easiest way to place the windows in cleanly without ruining the overall appearance of the car?

Any help would be much appreciated.

use white glue. Like sobo, or elmer..
apply it with tooth picks..

Testors makes clear parts cement which also doubles as a "window maker." Supposedly, you can paint this stuff (which is like white glue) around the edges of a window frame and pull it out like a soap bubble, making a window. I actually did this, but it made a huge mess and was so fragile that it broke. Don't try to make windows with it. But use it for gluing your plastic windows in place; it works great. Just be sparing. If the window fits somewhat poorly and needs to be pushed against the body frame, then use a full paint jar as a weight (if the window installs from the inside). Since it's Tamiya, though, I don't think you'll have a problem. They have high-quality fit and finish. Good luck! I want to get this kit, too.

Tamiya's GT3 is a good one- decent beginner kit, and if you've built models before you should have no trouble. It looks terrific built up.

Generic white glue or something made specificly for attatching clear parts like Microscale Krystal Kleer are the best bets for windows. They won't mar clear parts, and can easily be cleaned up when dry.

Do yourself a favor and give the FAQ's and How-to/tutorials here a thorough read through. If you need to know something more, feel free to ask.

I prefer Microscales Kristal-Klear as it stays a bit more flexible when dry then most ordinary white glues I've tried out.
This gives a bond that is a little more forgiving than the others, especially good if the body takes a bit of tweaking in the final assembly. Not fun when the clear parts falls out and you have to do it all over again.

Gleu's like microscales Kristal-Klear is THE way to go. I always hade problems with my windows until i bought this gleu. Now i only have fingerprints on my windows ;-). Also remember if the gleu isn't dry, it cleans up verry easly with water. The GT3 is a stunning kit to make if you return to modelling. Goes together without a singel fitting issue (only the body needs to be stretched a bit to put over the chassis).
