Went to a Skyline Dyno Day, Awesome

Those guys are so cool. There cars were shit hot as well. I even got to ride in one for a white knuckler. Very fast, very impressed.

I put my car on the dyno as well, I have issues. But we wont go there:p

Anyways, the GTRs were in force. The baddest of the ones that were there was an R34 and it had let a sparkplug electrode go while he was driving it to the test facility, needless to say he did not run, but there were 5 other R34s, and a bunch of R33s, and a few R32s. A very fun day. If you get a chance I highly recommend it:D

The hightest of the ones that I saw was a 416 or so, which is damn good. I did not get to see all, since I was drooling too much:) over the other cars that were there.

Here is the R34 that was having prolems.

Here is my dyno sheet. The car was cutting out at 4800-4900. It was nice and steady and then bam, it would not go above 4900. So 250bhp at 4850. The car needs a tune, BAD. Among other things.

The pics with the blue R34 was me. I did the first run as I had to leave early.

What bhp did you get at the wheels?

I got 395bhp at wheel = approx. 540bhp engine.

R34,

I posted above, but since my sheet did not post here you go.

By the way, your car ROCKS.

Looks like a great day at the dyno there...and nice cars too...including the blue one!;)
Sky, I was looking at your chart there...what are the lines at the bottom? Are those your AFR? If so, it looks like your car is running lean....from what I know of these things. Then agin, I could be wrong...

Actually R33,

I think that might be one of my issues. I run two fuel pumps, one interal, and the other external. The one in the tank might have craped out, so I will be needing to upgrade. That is only one issue, but your thinking is the same as mine on that one.

Thanks for your input.

I'll never get used to the idea that there are nore Skylines there than Mustangs :D (being from the states and all :D)

Perhaps a fuel pressure regulator... You got a dual stage Sky?

Ok, Gonzo I'll bite. Dual stage:confused: :D

Do you have an A/F gauge? A friend of mine has an 454 with two pumps, one stock and one Sard. His fuel pressure regulator wasn't up to the challenge and when he hit ~3500rpm the stock pump couldn't keep up and the dual stage had problems keeping the fuel pressure up by making the Sard work hard. It wanted to work both pumps at the same pressure. Just a thought, might be way off.

*Edit*

Woops, I just now saw the

A dual stage fuel pressure regulator (I think) is specificaly made for running two fuel pumps. They are usualy also adjustable so you can make sure it pumps atleast Xpsi at Xrpm. I usually hear them associated with big ass blown hemis and such. And I've never see or touched one, so if I'm hunting bear with a slingshot here let me know.

Please ignore my strange analogy, I don't know what posessed me to say it :silly:

Ok, riddle me this. How in the hell do you plum two regulators when both pumps are in series?

I have never heard of what you are refering to? I really can not see the point of it. What would be its purpose? What does a Regulator do? As far as I know it keeps the pressure at a constant, right?

Are you talkin about running two complete seperate lines to the fuel rail.

Gonthrax,

I really am at a lose for that one, but you better run cuz you just pissed off a grizzley:eek:

I forgot to add,

no A/F, but you know one is on its way. SO, sometime between next week and the year 2005 I should get it. I have had 10 boxes of parts shipped over a month ago from the states and I have not seen one of them.
I will be getting my Corbeaus next week, at least that is what the sales rep said for the 4th time. "Sir, they will be shipped out this week". Yeah, say what they want to hear, not the truth. Because the truth stinks, and we will get yelled at if its not what the customer wants to hear. No, you won't, at least not from me, I like the truth. It really lets me know what is up with my order. Not some false FUCKIN hope that my seats will be in, so I can start to pull out my interior to get a head start. God forbid if they told the truth, hell they just might get struck by lightning. And speaking of the truth, did you know that SCC mag, is complete crap. If you want to know why. Ask, I will tell you the TRUTH:mad: :D

Well actually, there not like totaly fool of crap. Hell, my subscripsion just ran out last month. I find most of the articles pretty informative, but I was really refering to the Ultimate car challange.

Have they done that yet?

Ok, like I said I've never seen one in the flesh but from what I understand this is what they do.

If you have two fuel pumps a dual stage eliminates the need for seperate regulators on each pump (I think you would need to do that, normal regulators only have a fuel in and fuel out right?). You can tell your ECU to tell the regulator what fuel pressure you want at what RPM in what gear and so on.

I don't think they have done that yet, I'm actually really looking forward to it... I hope that old school Z makes it... probably not, since all the rice boys will vote for the hondas and all that...

There are a few magazines I read... SCC, Turbo, Super Street (used to read it more often, now only if they feature a Nissan or other good car), and Import Tuner (crappy mag, but the chicks are hot sometimes)

I like turbo and SCC the best because they aren't filled with retarded filler, they actually have interesting articles like the one SCC did on their SR20 swap into a 240sx (will be very helpful in the coming months :D)

Grendel,

SCC, if they don't let Mumford (Viper) drive in the USCC they are full of crap as far as USCC is concerned. That is what I really refering to.

Gonthrax,

? You were talkin about dual Regulators, now your talkin about the ECU conrtolling one regulator, is that right?

I just looked at Mumford's Viper in that issue... its pretty bad ass...

Why wouldn't they let him drive? Its all based on reader votes isn't it?

I think you might be right, but to get a true USCC they need to have "the best of the best, sir". :)

We will see, like I said other than that I was just ranting. I was a little drunk that night. Don't mind the babbling of an old man;)

Yea... I think so

No actually I was talking about a single regulator that's made for controlling two pumps, and how your ECU controles that.
