wow, long time no post oh well... been finishing and building kits and winning prizes. Need some help though. Im building a 1999 Chev Silverado to look like my gfs dads truck. The exterior i used the duplicolor touchup paint Pewter. The interior is pewter but i cant use the metallic touch up. Every pewter paint i see is really dark, or almost grey and the interior is almost a tan but tan is too light. What color can i use to come close to the ext color. Could i use Tan and put a dull coat on it to get the color i want? Looked at tamiya and revell paints online and nothing comes close. Thanks to anyone who can help. Gonna post my latest finishes and contest wins. Glad to be back on and posting.

A dull coat won't change the color or hue, just the sheen. If it's fabric you'll want it to be dull anyway though, and vinyl you'll want semi-gloss, so keep those in the back of your mind.
For the right color, just start mixing paints. Find something that looks close to the base color, and begin adding a little bit of another color to go lighter or darker. Start with a fairly decent amount of the base color, say half the bottle, and then add a little bit at a time; It's better to mix too much and not need the rest than run out and try to match that custom color again. Test it out on a scrap piece of plastic until it dries to the color you want.

Look for the relatively new Model Master Synthetic Lacquer spray cans. They have replicated colors from Ford, GM, and Chrysler, including Pewter, I think.
