hi all. I was wondering if anyone knows how to compress the rear break calibers on a 93 chevy lumina. Thanks for any advice.

that cross-cut feature in the face of the caliper piston has to be engaged so you can twist the piston like a screw, there's a little cube shaped tool with pegs on it that fits in a socket wrench that's made for doing it, costs about $10...you can do it other ways too, but don't grab the edges of the piston and try to turn it, or you'll wreck it...

Turn a bit, make sure it's going in and not out....if you accidentally wind it out and pop the piston out, you're screwed:eek:

Okay cool thanks I see what you saying. Now do you know what size tool I need as the auto store has between 31mm-36mm. Oh and I got you caliper not caliber, that could be important.

There's a universal tool that can be used on all makes and models and it attaches to a 3/8 drive ratchet..

Okay cool when I was asking about the tool via the phone to auto zone the lady on the other end was talking about one part and I was talking about the other. I got the parts/tools on hand now and should be able to figure it out now. Thanks
Howard
