:banghead:I am installing a lift kit on my 99 chevy silverado 2WD half ton. The lower ball joint will not let go from the steering knuckle. I used a pickle fork and have been banging away but to no avail. This is a weekend project and I need an answer PLEASE !!!:banghead:

ok this may sound stupid but ive seen it before in the past. you dont have it jacked up under the control arm do you??? otherwise all i can say is keep bangin at it, thats all you can really do.

I went thru this a couple of years ago . Beating on the thing with no success . Bought an air hammer with a fork on it for my air compressor . and it fell off in 2 seconds . I think it taks a high frequency vibration to brake them free . Rob

So I just got back from the mechanic. He used a air impact with a pickle fork to no avail. I am off to the dealer. Maybe they can help.

They may have to heat the old steering knuckle and use a portable press/puller to break the taper loose.
