About a month ago i posted something about my transfer case leaking. It ending up being a hole in my transmission case. So i ended up getting a brand new 6 speed transmission with a 3 year warranty. How did i get that hole your wondering. Well my friend and i took it apart and turns out the 1st 2nd shift fork broke a piece of aluminum off and got stuck in the gears and was flung into the side of the case and caused a good 2inch hole it it. So iam rebuilding it right now got the parts comming. So when iam done it will have a new shift fork new 2nd and 3rd gear syncro and a new section of the case. Pretty much a rebuilt 6 speed transmission. Iam wanting to sell it so i thought i would give you guys the first oportunity to buy it before i put it on ebay. Before the hole the transmission was excellent except for the 2nd and 3rd gear sycnro and now it's being replaced. IM if ur interested.

which section of the case was damaged (hole)?
where are you getting your parts from?
why not take this time to upgrade you transmission with beefier shift rails, forks, double synchros, quaife LSD, etc? then you could sell your new one to someone, and they would be more likely and happy to buy a relatively new 6spd with a 3 yr warranty.
just a thought.
p.s. i just finished intsalling a 16% taller 5th gear in my FWD 5 spd. its fun stuff taking apart those transmissions!! :grinyes: if you live anywhere near Dallas, i'd love to come take a look.

Yea i would but it's all ready in there and i fell in love with the new transmission alredy, plus i dont think ne body has $3700 to buy the new one, plus i would have to take it out. It took me a good half a day to figure out how to take the case apart. The part that has the hole in it is the middle section. I have a buddy that works at Mitsu dealership and he gets all the parts 10% over cost so it's really cheap for me. Once i get it rebuilt it should be almost new. The case is $200 the fork is $150 and the syncro kit is $89 a sycnro so it's not bad. Hopefully i can get at least $1700 from somebody here or maybe even ebay.

took 1/2 a day to figure how to get the case off? you shoulda looked up directions or asked on here. i assume the 5spd is similar to the 6spd in the you have to remove the 6th speed gear and intermediate gear on the end case, then that will allow you to unbolt the mid case and pull it off?
those prices are pretty good, and since you're only replacing the synchro, shift fork, and case, it won't be much time or money spent. i thought you were doing a complete rebuild by replacing all the seals, bearings, synchros and stuff. but ya, since you have one that works now (brand new!), might as well just replace the broken parts on the old one and recoupe some of your money.

Yea lol i should have looked up directions. My biggest problem right now is that i dont have a puller to pull the gears out. Im gonna take it to a transmission shop sometime so they can take it off for me and after i get everything replace i'll have it pressed back in. I just took one step at a time lol it took me an hour to figure out you have to put it in neutral to take the shifter out of the transmission. But yea ask around if somebody wants a 6spd. I'll have it washed sanded and a new high temp black coating on it once its all finished. Should look very nice and should shift very nice to.

here's a site that has a TON of good tranny info. it says DSM, but our trannys are all very similar www.vfaq.com .
high temp black coating...great idea! instead of trying to keep the original aluminum finish, which just gets dirty again and again, black is the way to go! i knew there was a reason i got a black 3000GT!
