Have had my vehicle with my daugher for two years now, just took it back as she is off to college. The visible clearance between the tire and the wheel well is two inches less on the right rear side than the left.

Any quick thoughts?

Thank you.

Under spanners should be a section on ride height (sorry can't direct link) measure all round and compare as plenty of variation.

Was thinking that perhaps a spring or shock absorber might be worn out.

Shock Absorbers don't affect the ride height. Look for a weak or broken spring or spring mounting hardware. Measure the ride height from the bottom of the chrome strip to the center of the wheel cap on all four wheels to see which rear wheel is wrong. The height in theory should be equal on all four corners but in reality it may vary as much as an inch.

It's common for the driver's side spring to wear more than the passenger side since most of the time the car is only loaded on that side.
