97 CX No Spark, Any ideas?

Hi. I've got a 97 CX, all stock. Car was running great and just shut off about 1/2 hour into driving it. It's the first time it has happened. No check engine light or any symptoms.. no sputter or hesitation. Just turned off. I suspected fuel pump but figured I would rule out spark first because it's easier. Sprayed starting fluid and nothing. SO I put my spark tester on. DEAD. Put my induction timing light on the wires just to double check and nothing.

So I pull the cap and rotor. Per Honda manual, the wires going into igniter are all okay. Resistance in ohms across pickup coil, and the ignition coil are both good, between + and - and also + and the lead per the Factory Manual. So it must be the ignition module, right? Went and bought a brand new one, put it in and still no spark.

I have 12v on the + lead to the coil w/ignition switch in II run position. When it cranks, the - terminal to the coil flickers, so it's getting signal. How could there not be a spark?

I may go to a U-PULL-IT junkyard in the morning and buy a distributor if I can find one... does anyone know if the ECU has any control over spark? Again, no check engine light though...

Any ideas or anything you think I might be overlooking would be greatly appreciated. I searched the forums for a while first so I wouldn't be wasting anyones time.. Didn't see anything. THANKS in advance.

-Bob (PS Full tank of gas minus about 60 miles...)

Update. The ignition coil was arcing from a split in the side of the plastic to the metal mounting bracket. Got a new coil and it runs fine. Thanks
