Fasterfox add on question

I found a link for an add on to Firefox browser called "Fasterfox". After downloading it and saving it to my computer, I tried to install and run it. When I tried to do just that, my Netscape browser suddenly popped up, ( I RARELY use this browser, even though I have it in my computer.) One pop upbox appears and asks that Netscape is not my default browser, and if I want to make it my default, to which I click "no". I then close the Netscape browser that now appears on my computer, and click the install button. Another window appears and tells me I cannot install Fasterfox because it is not compaible with the Netscape browser. What gives? I thought I was downloading and installing a Mozilla Firefox extension, not one for Netscape. How can I get it to go on my Firefox browser? Is there a different program made just for Firefox, and if so does someone have a link? Thank you.

Are you downloading it in Firefox? Try rebooting your computer and opening only Firefox and try it again.
It's a crap add on though.

That is a really unusual way to install extensions. Normally you just browse with firefox here:
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/extensions/
and install extensions right in the browser itself and then restart it.
Are you even sure that was a safe site you did the dl from?
