LOL That happens to me sometimes too and I have no idea what's wrong with it. I laugh because it's scared my passengers more times than once. Hehe What I usually end up doing is just using the controls on my steering wheel.

Probably has to do with the volume knob, on my old SL it would turn down when I tried to turn it up if I didn't go slowly. New headunit ftw!

Polk and Infinity both make for nice tweeters. And if you don't mind me asking in what way has your tweeter expressed homosexual tendencies?

^ROFL.

Have fun replacing that tweeter. If i recall, you have to eather pull the whole dash or pull the windshield.

Head units...normally i dont recommend it, but look on ebay. I got my Clarion on ebay 4 years ago for $100 brand new. It STILL sells for more than that today. Awesome deck. Just make sure its New In Box (NIB) and pushes at least 200w (50x4).

ummm, the high frequencies it puts out = high pitched voice :p

na, the tweeters just pop up right out of their holes. quite easy, actually.

^ good news, thank man. Mine could use replacing too, but i assumed it was just as hard as replacing the vents.

as for the vents, when i replaced mine, i actually took the entire dash off. needless to say, when i replaced the dash, i had about 10 screws leftover. but i wouldn't do it again. a lot of other people just pop the dash vents in from the top, or glue them in. its not worth removing the dash.

because all of a sudden it just cracked or something and when the bass is high most of what you can hear is the little pieces of it popping around.

you won't hear the bass through the tweeter, if that's what you're implying. the tweeter is only meant for high frequencies. however, if the bass is turned up, it will shake the car a bit and can shake the broken pieces of the tweeter.

My volume control has gone to hell on the unit. If it weren't for the controls on the steering wheel, I'd actually have to do something about it.

depends. How good is your car stereo knowledge? On almost any other car, its a breeze. Splice a few wires and your done. Steering wheels controls, so Ive heard, can be a pain in the ass. If you still want them to work properly, find some really good instructions or have it done by a pro.
