Looking to buy 300/400 what problems to look for?

started looking at 98-02 GS 300/400 what are the common problems on these cars? and what to look for when inspecting these cars?

1. how does the automatic tranny stand up to stress?
2. how is the engine, prone to leaks?
3. are these cars relaible?
4. how bad is the handeling?
5. and is the 300 really slow?

BTW currently drive a 00 5spd maxima so looking for something better, more reliable and a bit faster.

oh and what are the differences between the model years?

Do some research, gs400 goes until 00', gs430 goes from 01' to 05', gs300 is from 98 to 05. The 300 is not very slow, however if your somewhat handy with a wrench with a little modification you can be up to 500 horse in no time, research 2JZGE and 2JZGTE.... Now the 400 is a 1UZFE and 430 is a 3UZFE both roughly 300 hp, with the 3uzfe producing 15 more ft. lbs of torque.

1. the transmission is strong no doubt about it.
2. the 3uz is awesome, the 2jz is just as sweet, not one leak on mine
3. The car is very reliable and will never prove anyone otherwise, if it's well maintained
4. THE HANDLING IS BAD?!?!?!?!
5. Research 2JZ-GTE and see what car's it comes in...
