Breaking in Head

Hey all, got 2 questions.

1) When I get th ehead installed with everything being new, I figure that has to be a breakin process for it, correct? If so, what would that consist of? Just normal driving, no WOT all the time?

2) These are the cams I'm looking to get next week. Are these good? I see idle would be a little rougher. How would they sound? Anyone else try these?

Thanks.

Nope, no break in. Just make sure its good and lubed up in there before you go all hardcore on it. Be sure to use oil or assembly lube on all the bearing/contact surfaces when you do the reassembly.

I would recommend using regular oil as apposed to synthetic as well.

Because for break in you want more friction and synthetic has very little friction. In order to seat the rings properly there needs to be some friction. I'm not sure why you wouldn't you wouldn't use synthetic for a head break-in considering nothing needs to be seated...

A head doesnt need to be "broke" in. Cams on the other hand do. Just go for a cruise. Keep the RPMs between 2-3k for a good 15-20mins of driving and you are good to go.

As stated before, synthetic oil is very slippery and reduces friction/wear. When putting a new head on, it doesnt matter what oil you use. Synthetic would actually be better for it due to the fact you dont want any friction between the cams and the cam journals seeing there is no bearings.
