Those are RWD right?

One of my relatives bought one that was in a rollover accident for $40 and we beat that thing to hell out on the trails in the woods. Its pretty fun using a winch and a large tree to put a strut back in place :D And to make it stop: slam it into reverse :p That was some fun times... :o

Melt
08-25-2002, 01:33 AM
Nope, FWD. I was really impressed with the thing though, 200k and still redlining

that's pretty fun. If i could find a car cheap like that, i'd mess that thing up too. haha....and sleepers are so tight. those things are so tight. like a beat up hatch smoking up a new 'stang.........oh yea.........

Whats funny is how you have all these kids reading how civics stomp on mustangs and how slow and junky mustangs are. Then these kids hop in their civics and flock all over me as I drive down the road, reving and squealing (attempting to) thinking they can take down any mustang they see. Its getting old. Stock mustangs are fast, stock civics are slow. The only way a civic is going to beat a stock mustang is with alot of money and work. Granted their are civics out there that could walk my car, but 99% of the 16 year olds out there that are trying to race me dont have it. Okay, I feel better.

Melt
08-27-2002, 11:26 PM
Then the kids in your area are just plain stupid. I wouldnt rev on a cobra period, and wouldnt rev on a GT unless I thought the driver is shitty. I will however rev on any mustang or camaro I determine to be a V6 cause those suck. The people who drive the 6's are no better than people with civic dx's driving around thinking they are all badass, (although even a DX could probably walk on a 6 cyl mustang)

tenzoracerevovii
08-27-2002, 11:38 PM
err yea. I have no disrespect for domestics. I just said that cuz that would be so cool if it happens like that, and it DOES once in a while. I never said my stock civic will smoke the shit out of your v8. If i could choose between a stock civic vs. a stock 68 fastback, i would choose the stang. and stupid people in imports don't only rev on domestics. They rev at COMPLETELY stock civics like mine. so yea, my bad if you thought i was dissing your mustang, but i wasn't......

Heh, my car is a beater, and it was cheap :)

$950, and about 1k in repairs to keep it from burning to the ground, and I can smoke the cut springs/fart can ricers all night long (almost anyone can tho... so thats not saying much) And with the faded paint, and super dusty exterior, its a pretty good sleeper :p

The best part is how it shows its real character after you leave the pavement :D

whats wrong with V6 Mustangs and Camaros?

It goes along the same line as people who buy Civics for economy reasons.

Its a sporty looking economy car that has [i]some]/i] pickup and go to them. Albiet not tons like the V8 counterparts... but they get the job done.

200 horsepower aint bad, V6 Camaros run low 15's with a good driver.

Dont forget they can be supercharged, and they get good gas milege

19 City/ 30 Highway! But the V8's arent much different with 19 city/25 highway.

a Stock Si can run a 15.9 at best, with work 15.5 with a good driver.

So I think the V6 Camaro's can hold their own, only thing that can give them trouble stock from the imports is a Vtec Prelude, GSX's, All trac Celica's.

I dont know, I presonally like to let the Numbers do the talking.

I just plain cant stand them, if you are going to buy a muscle car buy the fucking v8 and dont get the one with the 6 for economy reasons. You want economy, get a DX

The 99-newer mustang v6 runs mid to high 15s as well.

Heh, A while back, a guy came through the drive thru at work in a nice looking new camaro... it didn't look like an SS or have the Z28 badge on the side, so i asked "V6"

He goes "No, its the V8, but its small one so I get good mileage" :bloated:

Then he drives off and I look at the rear... One tailpipe... it was a V6 :p

Guess now they not only buy the cheap V6 versions, they fool themselves into thinking its a V8 :D

With your average driver you can up that number to mid 16s. I have beaten everyone I have ever encountered who thought it was fast by a good distance. A friend of mine had one, he knew it wasnt fast but he is actually a decent driver, we raced. I got him by a good 40 ft. maybe more. Now he has a Mclaren stang, he gets me by a fender usually...

A v-6 mustang could get into the 14's with slicks easily

An average driver with a 5-speed should be able to pull 15s on a stock car. What is a Mclaren mustang?

V6 MUSTANGS SUCK!!!

Muscle Cars:
V8 Mustangs
V8 Camaro's
Trans-am's
Nova's

Economy Cars:
Any Civic specifically HX and VX
Toyota Trecel
Toyota Paseo
Toyota Prius
Nissan Sentra GXE
Geo/Chevy Metro

Haha, I dunno, I have heard some really terrible civic exhausts...

At least the V6 mustang sounds like it has a bit of balls, instead of sounding like a swarm of bumblebees or a wet fart like some of the ricer civics...

Have you heard an aftermarket exhaust on an 80's V6 Camaro? Now that sounds shitty :)

If you want to soup up a economy priced car, the v6 mustangs would be the best choice. Its called having something to work with, displacement. And stock with over 200lbs of torque is nice to. At least the mustang v6 will hit 15s stock, whats the base model civics at 17s?

If you are talking about the 98 and up V6's ok...but still more expensive than a 1992 hatch with an engine swap. Apples and Oranges I know...but how much faster is the Apple?

If you are referring to the 98 and below V6 Mustangs, I used to beat them all the time in my bone-stock 1996 Toyota Corolla with the 1.8 liter engine...and my Corolla was still cheaper brand new with the same year V6 'Stang. I even beat modified ones...but then again, the only modifications I notice on the V6 'Stangs here are of the "ricer" variety...gaudy wings, altezzas, heavy-ass chrome rims, mufflers that are loud but useless, etc., etc....

Bottomline, I look at V6' Stang owners, all I think is "loser".

Also, understand the attitude against these pukes...just because they drive something with the name "Mustang", they act like they are driving a freakin' Saleen S281 or something. If I had a penny for everytime a V6 'Stang driver decided to give me chase and try(emphasis on "try") to race me on the freeway just because I passed(I was in a hurry...didn't even know or care they were on the road...they took my passing them as a challenge...since they were the only ones allowed to pass people on the road:rolleyes: ), I'd be driving a Ferrari instead. I understand that there are import ricers do the same thing...but doesn't that put them in the same category?

Yea, I've gotten that notion too. Most of them seem real proud that they've got a mustang. I can respect a V-8 driver because they know how it goes but somebody that buys a mustang "BECAUSE ITS A MUSTANG!!" is just not something i condone or really like. They'd rather have it for the title and the title of mustang lost alot of ground way back with the ceased production of the shelby.

I raced a 99 Mustang GT in my 2K civic EX and beat him off the line. I got a good lead on him and when he almost caught up he grinded the gears and that lost him the race but HEY! just details right? :sun:
But my civics not very stock so that was a bit of an influencing factor.

My previous car was a 1995 v6 mustang. No exterior mods, just a couple performance mods, duel exhaust, powerchip, pullies and cold air induction. It was pretty fast, just ask the various riced out cars I walked. But, I new it was a v6, did not flaunt it as anything else. Where you guys get off saying that v6 owners think their cars are all that is beyond me. Could it be that you get beat by them? Scared of them? Its a car that looks cool and actually has some performance potential with its original parts, dont have to swap in some abc123 motor. Strange concept eh? Ford made the part right the first time.

kidrocket
09-10-2002, 10:02 PM
no it is not that i am scared of them. I walk on the new V6s as well as the old ones. Hell, Ive walked on stock pre 96 5.0 GTs pretty handily as well. Keep in mind that any little mod you do will open that motor way up and hand me my ass, but thats beside the point.

Im not even going to go as far as to say all or even most, but a good deal of mustang owners look at imports,(even those that will beat them) and sneer. This is all case specific though. Ive also met many many mustang owners that are cool as hell

Its just about performance to these select few, and not a damn badge, which is cool as hell IMO

kidrocket
09-10-2002, 10:05 PM
also, that was funny about making the part right the first time. If that was true, why are the 94-95 style mustangs so goddam slow from the factory, V6s and V8s alike?

Btw, if that car in your avatar is your ride, mad props it is very:coolguy:

Generalization means that most people are like that. There are always exceptions. Apparently you're one of them. Don't get all defensive. Just because some people don't like V6 stangs doesn't mean it's retalitory because a stang beat 'em or stangs are better. It means they don't like V6 stangs. Everybody has their preference.

Actually, the 96-98 mustangs are slightly slower. Yes, there is no reason why ford could not make mustangs a bit faster. They should have, since they had the tech and parts to do so.

Thats is my car in the sig. Picture is a bit fuzzy.
