switch in the ecu

my friend has a 98 neon and i have a 05 sxt he told me my engine is basically a mistabushe (spell completly wrong i know) engine and there a switch in the ecu to give it the same power as a eclipse i want to find and turn it on if its true anyone know anything about it

Never heard of this and would guess it is an urban legend. You can buy a reflashed, performance ECU from a dealer (MOPAR) or from howell engineering (AF/X), or maybe on Ebay (avoid the JET). MOPAR will give you about 10 more HP, raise the rev limiter to around 7500 RPM, and the top speed limiter to 145 MPH (do not expect to see the 145 without some serious additional mods), and the AF/X a few more ponies than the MOPAR.

I read an article on http://neons.org/ that said the Mitsubishi engine was made from the Neon engine.

nope different motor stamps dodge i think is the ecb and eclipse is 420a

Your friend doesn't know what they are talking about.
None of the Neons (in any year) used a Mitsubishi engine.
The SRT-4 used a DCX engine with a Misubishi Built Turbocharger but that doesn't make it a Misubishi engine either.
Some of the Dodge Avengers used a Neon 2.0 engine block with a Reversed Neon DOHC head and the V6's in the Avengers were Mitsubishi. This has caused a lot of confusion among the nubs. Both Mitsu and DCX make a 2.4l 4-cyl that people get confused by, but they are not even related. The Mitsu 2.4 is used in the Dodge Stratus 2-door (Mitsubishi built car)and the 2.4 in the Dodge Stratus 4-door is DCX (DCX built car).

The mitsubishi 420a engine is a DOHC neon engine with the head reversed. It was built by Lamborghini and Chrysler.

The neons PCM cannot be reflashed or reprogrammed.

The 4 cyl Avenger has the 420a engine in it.
