93 ford taurus brake problems F-disc, R-drum

recently my brakes went out went to just brakes to ask what the problem was because they totally stopped working on me and they said it was most likely the master cylinder my rear driverside brake shoe had also gotten caught and caused the wheel cylinder to blow out so i totally replaced everything in the rear driverside brake and to the best of my knowledge it is hooked up correctly, i also changed the master cylinder with a new one from o'reillys and reconnected the brake lines and my brakes still wont work i havnet a clue what the problem is if anyone could help me out with would be greatly appreciated

Did you have any trouble bleeding the brakes? Can you describe how the brakes are not working? Peddle to the floor? Did you replace and adjust the shoes on both rear wheels?

If the rear wheel cylinder had come apart, releasing all the fluid, that would certainly explain your initial problem. The master cylinder was likely fine. Did you bench bleed the master cylinder before installing it per the instructions, then follow-up by bleeding your brakes?

Like KimMG asked, did you have any issues when bleeding your brakes?

My friends had originally put the master cylinder in my car for me while i was at work. It seems they somehow forgot to bench bleed the master cylinder, so today i took it off myself, bled it, and put it back on. It started raining really bad before i got the chance to bleed the actual brakes. Currently im waiting for the rain to let up so i can bleed them and see if it works. Just for my information though, if they still do not work after all of that is done any ideas as to what else the problem could be?

If while you bleed the brakes, you get a decent stream of brake fluid (sans air) at all four wheels, the problem has to be with the assemblies after the bleeder screw (calipers and wheel cylinders/brake shoes).

Turns out that it was the master cylinder after all. I got it installed and bled the brakes and now everything is working perfectly. I guess if you want the job done right you gotta do it yourself. Thanks for the help though.
