Attack of the ads!!!!

Look at all the Ford ads that just popped up! they're everywhere. I know i can pay to have special stars by my name and no ads, but hey Im cheap. So instead im just going to complain. This is bO shee.

i am, and i was gonna make a thread complaining, but seriously, i'm sure igor wouldn't just piss us off for the fuck of it. i'm sure the admins realise that they need more money to keep up AF, and compromises must be made. everyone hates ads, but they pay out... we dont. If it does bother you a lot, just dish out the $5 a month.

Are you talking about popups or what? Cos I'm pretty sure AF has none, if you're getting popups, you have spyware.

Otherwise it's just the google ads at the bottom that show up, and you can turn them off when you're a premium member.

not pop ups, there are new ads that show up on the first post of every thread, new side banner ads... just a lot more ads. but i agree, quit bitchin. this site is expensive to maintain.

I think that these ford and bmw ads are actually pretty cool. In the end, advertising does work, especially if it is well targeted to the user base. We do all buy cars, and heck, I did not even know BMW had a performance driving school in America until I saw the ad come up here on AF.

I think that the way they are showing up right now is not too intrusive.

That BMW Performance driving school does sound pretty awesome. lol. I guess ads can be good.

Well, I knew there were BMW cars out there... but did you know that there was a BMW Driving School in America? I sure didn't. Sometimes it may be of benefit to view some ads....afterall that is what the American economy is built on.

i use firefox, so i guess i don't see them at all :D

i don't see any difference with firefox vs IE, i've got them both on this page and the two pages are identical. i only get the ads at the top beside the logo, the one before the first post, and the ones at the bottom. i don't find them bothersome at all, i don't notice them. i wonder why some people get them and others dont

i think some people are getting confused with popups and ads...

well if they're talking about popups, i only get the one on the home page which gets blocked by my popup blockers on both IE and firefox.
