I will be running these....
http://www.arbybean.com/ar/images/Swap212.JPG

But that isn't the issue. Should be able to short time nicely with those tires.

Anyways....
Do you guys think I should start pulling some weight off the car???
Right now it is full weight minus the changes under the hood...like removing the emissions (AIR/EGR).
Of course...the 9" weighs more than the stock rear, and the iron block is a bit heavier than the LS1 block as well.

Help!!!! :banghead:

I think that weight reduction is a waste unless you go all out. But you have a family correct? I think that your family/work car is a Grand am, but what if it quits on you and you have to use the transam to haul the family? Just a thought. But i think that thing would be awesome gutted.

My $0.02

I say keep it stock inside.. I mean you say you dont want a roll cage so might as well as keep it nice inside.. I mean if you see a nice car down the road and then you look inside and its fully gutted it just doesnt look all that good since it isnt an all time racer.

I was more referring to easy stuff.
Rear seat, jack, spare, etc...

Nothing that can't go back in afterwards.
The girl also has a car.
1999 Trans Am
2001 Grand Am GT
2005 Vibe (hers....thank god)

Rally Sport

Curtis.. the Vibe has been discussed, we know the truth.

Anyway id still just take out the spare and jack.. I mean you are gunna be careful with the car and if you're ever stranded because of a flat.. then just call roadside service.

It stays in the car.
Thinking about pulling that stuff out for track duty though.

Then do that..

Mr. Luos

Worth it???

Or would it be kinda cool to say I ran an 11 second pass full weight???
At 5800 feet?

I say definetly take the easy stuff out, if your going for as fast as possible. Those little things can add up to a tenth.

When trying to faster I guess everything helps out.. depends on how you see it.

And yes saying you went 11 full weight is better.

you gotta get those roll cage!! that thing has a lot of muscle under the hood.. not safe without roll cgae (IMO) so if you crash (hope not) that will save you! also about weight reducion.. mmm l dont know.. depends on what you wanna do man.. if you wanna make that thing complete drag car not street then go for it.. get rid of back seats and every single junks that the car doesnt need..

but your car is still awesome, street legal, you can still have fun with 4 people on your car.

if that would have been mine, l would keep it the way it is.. cuz it is already a monster!!

Mr. Luos

That is the last thing going into my car.
A roll bar/cage.

I don't trust those on the street....and that is where 95% of the cars driving is done.
Even a minor accident can have your head whip into the bar....creating a head injury that wasn't there without it.
It basicly limits me to an 11.49 1/4 mile time.
Anything under that requires a bar....NHRA rules.

Well then.. try to go slow for a couple then really hit it off at the last runs to see if you go quicker than that time.

Mr. Luos
08-25-2006, 07:22 PM
I won't here.
Unless I cut a 1.4 short time....which better not happen.

Sea level would be that way....having to back off after 3rd gear until late in the night when I could finally go all out.
10's would be nice.

The Dallas Ft. Worth area.. and actually yeah winter time is nice here.. always around the 30-60 area.. and if it gets colder Texans start saying its the end of the world and blah blah blah..

 Finally someone that gets it. I have talked to a few people and they were like what are you going to do next to make it faster and I was like its done after this besides repairs and everyone is always like why? . I think a 9 second car is unsafe on the street not to mention the constant temptation :frown: . I would completely have my jolly's on for a 10 second street/strip car.

Mr. Luos

I have always told myself I wanted a serious street car.
But it has to perform at the track as well.

I think I have it.
On motor alone....this car is good for much more than 12's at sea level.
But will happily drive next to anything on the street.

I am close to my goals with this car. :icon16:
I would like to be right at the bar limit here at Bandimere. Going to need one of three things....
1. A serious diet.
2. A 75 shot.
3. A ProCharger running 4-5 PSI.

Obviously I will need a new driveshaft.

I've actually just heard some bad things about procharger. Because they have the self-lubricating system, the charger doesn't get fresh oil, so it gets really hot and basically blows up.

A friend was thinking about getting one for his 06 GT and talked to a guy at the dyno shop about it and said he's heard nothing but problems with those. He says Vortech is the way to go, even though they don't advertise as much output.

Vortech's design is complete crap on the LS1 cars. No way am I cutting my hood to fit a supercharger.
Plus, the ATI blower has better numbers.

Vortechs work well on Mustangs, but not so well on the LS1 cars. Different cars like different parts. :iceslolan

The blower thing is probably out of the question. I would need close to $8K to do that.
