I'm wanting to get a bit more power in my '03 SS, besides supercharging and all the misc little stuff I can do, does anyone think I can fit a small block V8? I was looking at the GM website, will a 350 fit? Or a 383? I'm not sure on the specs of everything, help me out please! Thanks.

For the engine.. you would need a FWD equippable, sort to speak v8.. because the Monte Carlo is front wheel drive you'd need an engine that would be able to fit that sideways way.. so you'd have to get that new LS4 because its made to fit to a front wheel drive application.. I am not sure what else you'd have to change, but that is about one if not the only option you have for a FWD V8..

I heard of someone fitting a Northstar in a Monte before. My Unc told me a few weeks ago that they put one of the 5.3L in an 05 Monte at work.

Save yourself a lot of work & trade it in on an 06 SS. I'll bet you knew that though.

That would be the best thing to do.. most people take out the engine and go "Whoa.. im way over my head" and stop.

The day's of easy engine swaps is over. There is no practical way (with enough money and will there always IS a way) to do this swap. By the time it was over, you'd be better off both time and $$$ wise to sell your 03 and buy an 06 SS with the factory 5.3 V-8.
