My 88 surges knocks and pings under acceleration. I've changed the fuel filter and checked the plugs. Where to next?

Check the fuel pressure, disconnect maf see if it changes the condition.

My fuel pressure is 32psi running and 36 before start. The book calls for 41 to 47. I'm not sure this my problem all though the pressure is a little low. Opening the throttle makes the pressure jump to 40.
Pulling the MAP plug makes the engine run very rough and it tries to die.
Any suggestions?

I said disconnect the maf not the map! If the gage is accurate the fuel pressure is low.

My mistake, it was the MAF I disconnected, not the MAP.

IF your fuel pressure is 36 psi I'd say that's your problem for sure, even a few PSI below the spec can cause starting/running problems.

Agreed.

It doesn't appear to be the fuel pump. I can drop the fuel pressure down to 20psi and there is no difference.
One thing I've noticed though. My valve body is starting to show signs of wear. The throttle sticks at idle following start-up. Could this be throwing off the TPS causing a timing issue?

FIXED!!!
From what I can gather it started with a slipping blower belt. This caused a rich condition that fouled one of the plugs. I changed the plugs, wires and both belts and now it runs great.
