That was awesome. Maybe someday they'll bring 'er back. Speaking of that, has anyone figured out why they stopped making them (for sale in the U.S)? I assume they were replaced by the impala or something similar, but still; they were very popular and quite dependable. Doesn't make much sense to me. If you've got something that is popular and sells like crazy, why give it up?

I think it was just redundant to have 2 similar models, yes...when the Impala came back in 2000 I bought one of the first ones. With both cars up at work and on the rack, looking from underneath, it was pretty clear you just about can't tell them apart, aside from the Impala's aluminum front subframe...Lumina might have gotten that in the final years too, I'm not sure...
I just hope that one this guy caught WAS a test subject, and not just an "escaped" foriegn model...somehow GM has the Idea that Americans don't want 400 hp mid size sedans....and I'm here scratching my head thinking "Who WOULDN'T?"...tree huggers? People who are scared to drive in the first place? Take the bus. Leave the road to those who know what to do with it...
Hell, my granpa is 86, and won't give up his '88 FWD 4.5 liter V8 Caddy, because it pisses him off that GM won't make a V8 model that doesn't cost $40,000 base anymore....grandpa won't drive anything with less than 8 holes, ya know...ol' school..:grinyes:

As the GTO goes away, I bet it's a possible replacement, maybe even GM got smart and wants to offer a RWD police car again. Don't get too excited though, GM has no clue what drivers want anymore.

you got that right...except for the high-end Caddy models....that coupe is sweet...took me a while to like the looks of it, but I'm a believer now..even the four door is just awesome

Do you mean the Cadvette? They are a much better looking car in person than in pictures. My neighbor has one, and I like it too.
