72 nova with reverse problems?

it takes my nova like 2 seconds to engage into reverse? but drive and everything is instant? is this normal...or what?

yea its a th350

If it were happening in reverse and drive, it could be a converter problem. If it is happening only in reverse, it's possible that: The reverse input clutch has seal leaks at the turbine shaft; The reverse clutch apply piston seals are leaking; The reverse clutch return sprign retaining ring has broken, allowing the reverse clutch to relax too far; The low/reverse sprag is not releasing fully; The forward clutch is not releasing fully; A valve body malfunction is preventing release of the forward clutch or engagement of the reverse clutch.
If the transmission tries to drive the vehicle slightly when it is in neutral, that's an indication that the forward clutch is not fully releasing. If the reverse engagement is "solid" (without slippage) once it does finally engage, that indicates the friction surfaces are intact
