Need Help Fast

ok so on my moms 2000 grand prix the brake lights wont work,,, we have changed the bulbs, the middle like in the window works and also the taillights will come on when you start the car, just the brake lights wont come on. i have also tried to replace the brake switch and still nothing??? any one got any ideas,,, what is the plunger switch that is right about the brake switch?

Normally when you have the third brake light and the other two are out it means the brake switch is good. Bad news is you may have a flaky multifunction switch on the steering column. The two rear brake lights pass through contacts of the multifunction switch.
