Wanna try another project. Here are 2 setups, wat u think?
96 prelude S
setup 1
----------------------
h22a = $2500
----------------------
pistons,p.rods,
p.rings, fuel injectors = $ ???
valve springs,
camshafts etc...
-----------------------
tubro kit = $3000-$4000
_______________________________
setup 2
-----------------------
h22a typeS = $4500
-----------------------
tubro kit = $3000-$4000
Me and a couple of friends are gonna be on this project and just incase we run into problems some of setup 1 might have to go to a shop for installation. So there's also labor cost.

the typeS has higher compression ratio and is 220hp. I really wanna get the typeS and toss it in to make things easier.
update:
Did a little more reading on the h22 typeS , seems it wasn't built til 97, so that means it's an OBD II. Don't want to deal wit that so we're gonna go with setup 1.

I have heard that a putting a turbo on an H22 is moreless pointless.. You run such a high compression with this engine that you won't really be able to run that much boost, something like 6-10lbs. For the money I don't think its worth it. If you had the F22B1 with its compression ratio you could run almost 20lbs of boost giving you some serious hp gains. As for the Type S, being 2k more than the VTEC model, are you willing to pay 2k for 20 hp? You can get 20 hp with a bolt on or 2. Now don't get me wrong if you got money to throw around, by all means go for what ya want.

your best bet of course is to go with a regular H22a, but if your going to upgrade the engine get some Type-S components. you can buy the throttlebody, cams, valves and all kinds of shit from a Type-S engine but then get some lower compression pistons and forge the internals so you can run plenty of boost. That will almost make up for the 2G's you save from not getting the entire Type-S engine(except you wont get the Type-S tranny with LSD)
. Anyhow, thats just what I would do....:coolguy:
