Idle Rpm

Car: 01' Firebird V6 3.8L

When I turn on the car, the RPM goes up to 1100 and stays there for around 30 secs, then it lowers to around 900 for another 30 secs or so and then finally it goes to 700-750 in which then it stays there without any problem.

I was just asking if this shifting was normal. Thanks.

i dont drive that year of car nor am i familair with it but that sounds normal to me...

if it gets worse then worry about it, but i know that some toyota trucks do that too, just so it warms up faster..has it done it before? or is this something that just started happening recently..

I dont know. I just got this car a week ago so I cant tell if it is something new.

Well, I hope you exaggerated the time a little, it shouldn't take 30 secs, maybe 6-10 seconds at the higher RPM's, but it should drop down to cold idle stage within 13 seconds of warmup. But for the most part, it doesn't sound like anything to worry about.

is it cold where you are at? because if it is it takes longer to warm up.
