I was skeptical at first but after I started using these metalizers, I've gained a renewed appreciation for Model Master's / Testors. These metalizers are great!! However, I've got one question... how well does it hold up with decal setting solvents? Much thanks for your response.

I actually decalled over some last night. It holds up just like any laquer; just fine. They seem pretty tough against chemicals, but my hamfistedness rubs it off like you wouldn't beleive :(

That's a problem with all metalizers, they don't hold up well to handling unless sealed, and sealing w/a clear usually compromises the finish dramatically :frown:

For just plain aluminum, I've started using Krylon Dull Aluminum spray, goes on very nice, very thin, and I seal it w/a few quick (not wet) passes of Kryon Crystal Clear, seems to do a good job of not affecting the finish, and you can handle the parts w/o the paint coming off. Haven't tried it w/other metal finishes. The buffing metalizers are very cool, but you just can't touch them or seal them :banghead:

Yeah, I've noticed that sealing completely ruins their finish and just makes the parts look silver. Boo.

I love the buffing metalizers but I haven't tried the non-buffing ones yet as my local HS does not have any non-buffing ones for me to try just yet.

Thanks for the responses guys!

I love them. If you don't need a polished aluminum surface, the sealer isn't that big of an issue. The only thing I've needed the sealer for thus far is the aluminum. The rest of them hold up quite nicely. The price sure beats alclad as well
